  • As a parts guy, it’s always fun trying to explain why the part I ordered OEM from the warehouse came in a Nissan or Toyota bag instead of GM for ex. A lot of it is that they use the same lists of manufacturers and suppliers for their parts and so it’s often just cheaper to use an existing design for a seemingly insignificant part that is already in production. Think little bushings and things like relays. Ofc things go bad and when they do it’s not clear to the consumer why they’re being sold “this cheap Chinese crap” instead of their vaunted ‘OEM’ garbage. They just don’t get it.

  • I don’t hate Kathleen Kennedy or anything, she’s just doing her job. In fact she’s not even really a cause so much as a symptom, but fact is she was hired because her vision matches what the marketing people want: dumbed down, mass-appeal media that speaks to no one and offends no one. She has made it work before in her career, and (likely, in my opinion) loves the formula for its efficacy, not its artistic value. It’s about the money, and enshittification. I’m as confused as everyone else how Andor managed to slip through the gatekeeping, but very glad for it. Maybe they’ll learn that there’s a market for more than just “childlike wonderment.”

My head canon - he’s very slightly force sensitive like many others including the force healer who senses him instantly. There is a lot of this in old EU content, especially during the Republic when there were Jedi washouts all the time. Not to even mention outer rim folks the Jedi couldn’t/didn’t get to. The other best pilot in the galaxy was a Confederate guy about Anakin’s age who was also likely semi-force sensitive. I don’t think they want to go too deep into the mystical weewoo of the force in this series, which is supposed to be more relatable and grounded. But I really appreciate what appears to be a nod to those lucky few who are guided, literally, by divine providence.
