I do this, legitimately – but with a very specific application: Firefox. On Windows, I can get firefox top border to a VERY small amount. But for some reason, in the past – every Linux distro I found, when Firefox is maximized, I still get an additional window decoration on the top, above the browser tabs. My Firefox bar on Windows only takes up 64 pixels of height.

This sounds very similar to a problem I had when an NVME drive was failing; it wasn’t writing certain blocks; they had become read only and the only thing I could do was clone the corrupted data off of the drive and do a reinstall.

I ended up moving my data to a more reputable drive, and then RMA’d the NVME drive, only to have the replacement be used in my wife’s PC, and the same thing happen 6 months later.

I keep a backup on an array of RAIDZ disks. I keep a second copy on a very large hard disk; one that is powered down 99% of the time.

And I keep another at the in-laws house that I can upload to remotely.

So for example, say I needed to run a bunch of ARK servers - I could put them all in VMs, and since they’re all loading mostly the same assets, I could run a lot of them in the very tiny amount of memory.
