I’m not sure OpenAI has such a big a head start as we think in the field. What they have is a lot of money to train large models but Moore’s law is still alive and kicking.

That’s going to depend on the wifi hardware you use, their is probably some good usb 3 or pcie wifi adapter.

Wifi is not very important in my setup so I can’t recommend anything.

But it is certainly an option to explore because these routers can be quite expensive.

I use a second hand x86 mini pc and I am very happy with it.

You may have to switch to a proper operating system to redeem yourself.

I have a similar set-up

I use a wireless access point that can expose multiple ssid with different vlans (I think it a fairly common feature)

my router runs openwrt and the iot vlan is in a different firewall zone

use wireguard to remotely access the lan zone
