  • It’s like a good C++ that is actually able to replace it. There are lots of places where a good C++ is useful. Like everything that needs low latency and low resource usage.

But it’s not an easy language, so (I’m guessing) people who see everyone loving it but are unable to learn it start to suffer some sort of cognitive dissonance. If it’s too difficult for me to learn, that must be its fault, not mine.

  • I tried Pop!_OS alpha1 with Cosmic Desktop and I even if the general software quality is still what you might expect from the first alpha release, I was impressed on the high-level design decisions they made with Cosmic. As a sway user who would like a bit more structure and hand-holding in my desktop, I think I’m gonna like Cosmic in a year’s time.

  • Why is it that we have to talk about these things when there’s an economic downturn? Even Keynes thought that boom is the time to save money, recession the time to spend it.

I don’t remember any government doing cutbacks or delaying spending during an economic boom. It’s always so that when money is flowing in, spending is adjusted up. And then when the inevitable recession comes, suddenly we don’t have any money and are forced into austerity.

Is this entirely a symptom of democracy? Because saving is not a popular thing to do?
