  • but everyone does seem to rave about it.

It’s Arch, CachyOS’ added value is just the installer you use to jump into its rolling release. I use CachyOS with Plasma desktop, it’s rock solid and intuitive and powerful, UI seems like a careful improvement of Windows tropes, very intuitive shortcuts for tiling and such, powerful ancillary tools like screenshotter and clipboard, excellent and fast file explorer that respects your choices and time… On a Thinkpad with Ryzen, everything works, down to reasonable touchpad default settings, fingerprint reader, bluetooth, sleep and hibernation.

  • I would still like to see an explanation of why it is bad. Regardless of who will provide that explanation :)

Because they have Occulus’ locked up in their basement and gimmick du jour is worse, now instead of just having a headset where you have to use their account and see ads for their shitty corpo vr chat every time you login you’ll have a mandatory llm paperclip learning your habits and shilling 24/7

  • Some more things I’m sure of include that Spotify exists for the artists and won’t sneakily replace them with Suno-generated shit at first opportunity or fuck with people’s legacy of holy playlists or make the interface more cumbersome to alter users’ habits, or increase the price until the frogs start jumping out. It’s allowed to exists through the graces of biggest publishing conglomerates whose C-suite and shareholders get the lion’s share. Fuck fucking Spotify.

  • It works great for me. I usually make GPX in advance for cycling and just follow it, but choosing navigation as a car avoiding motorways and tolls also works great (at least in Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Bosnia). If you admit you’re a bicycle it’ll send you through people’s yards tho, but it’s mostly friendly yards that are supposed to be public walking spaces but someone put some fences.
