Cory Doctorow is rightfully enraged:

This is all downside. If Google complies with the order, it will constitute a privacy breach on a scale never before seen. If they don’t comply with the order, it will starve competitors of the one tiny drop of hope that Judge Mehta squeezed out of his pen. It’s a catastrophe. An utter, total catastrophe. It has zero redeeming qualities. Hope you like enshittification, folks, because Judge Mehta just handed Google an eternal licence to enshittify the entire fucking internet.

      @TrickDacy @theparadox @technology

It is clear you are upset but these people are not causing harm, Republicans are. You are alienating the exact people you need to win back if you ever want power.

Then again, maybe you want to feel self-righteous and superior and don’t particularly care about getting power, in which case, carry on.

@TrickDacy It does not matter who you vote for in America, it is a system that produces particular outcomes. No matter what, inequality and GHG PPM will continue to rise, I send you the graphs and you can compare who was in office during any given rise.

Before you throw your venom at me, I have professionally worked in MN for 19 years. I have personally canvassed for more spineless Democrats than you will vote for in your entire life.

so the answer is to dig in even further and keep voting for this two way being ran on the country?

democrats are controlled opposition. voting for them is the vote for regime. GOP will get in next around and do more of their bullshit. they keep rotating.

amazing how democrats can’t get any of their promises done bu trump is able to.

LoL. I didn’t realize the fallout of disagreeing with TrickDacy was so severe. I’m sorry America!

For real though, I’m condemning anyone who unloads on these people, particularly if they were trying to pressure the Democrats to stop supporting genocide. Not because I think staying home was the right move, but because we need to fucking move on and deal with the situation we have now.

particularly if they were trying to pressure the Democrats to stop supporting genocide

There were two possibilities with that: 1) it was a fake excuse to nudge people toward Trump. 2) it was an idiot’s way of confidently pretending to be morally superior without understanding (or caring to understand) anything since their position specifically would lead to worse genocide. This second category heard but rejected the basic facts of how america’s parties work, and they rejected it REPEATEDLY…

So yeah, it’s fair to blame them. The situation we have now was partially caused by them and will be further magnified by them in the future.

Hey, these people didn’t make genocide, doing fuckall to improve the material conditions of your constituents, or not even resisting the republican agenda unpopular. Why weren’t you with us trying to get the dems to do what was necessary to win?

Yes I would have been so virtuous if I was another Jill Stein voter telling everyone to also vote for anyone but a Democrat. I especially enjoy how right you all were. On day one trump withdrew all financial support from Israel /s

That’s not what I said at all. Do you believe that the people have no power to influence dem policy? That there is nothing that could have been done to change the outcome of the 2024 election but successfully convince people to vote for genocide, stagnant wages, raising rents, funding ICE, etc?

Common sense would tell you that you can influence your peers much more easily than you can politicians. We see that every election. And you “helped” this past one. Thanks for that

Bro you are talking to people who literally worked for campaigns or at least phone banked in this thread, we are telling why we were unable to convince people, and its because of the dems dogshit policy and “we’re republicans but more competent” messaging.

It would be trivial to get people to vote dem if I could say “We ended the genocide, Trump plans to resume it” or “before Biden was in office, ICE was throwing children in cages. They no longer exist. Trump wants to fund them again” or “How much are you paying for health insurance? <candidate> pledges to pass free healthcare day 1 if the party gets 50% in congress”.

Great job. You all convinced the Democrats AND Trump to end the genocide. That’s why it totally ended (because we totally could stop it any time anyhow) and we aren’t a hopeless fascist dictatorship now.

I can empathize with people who had to choose between 1) supporting and empowering politicians of their own party guilty of defending, enabling, and supporting genocide or 2) using the only power they have, their vote, to communicate their disapproval for genocidal members of their own party at the risk to enabling christo-fascists who are absolutely going to defend, enable, and support the same genocide even more blatantly. It’s an insane situation - one that the fucking party leadership should have recognized.

What you are saying to these people is “What the fuck is wrong with you? It’s SO OBVIOUS! I don’t care how much it bothers you, you need to give the fucking war criminals more bullets to slaughter innocent children because, if you don’t, even worse war criminals are going to slaughter even more innocent children. How fucking hard is it to just hold your nose and murder innocent children? Now it’s your fault that even more children are dead and the fascists are in charge.”

So rather than embrace those who just want to stop any innocent children from being murdered you are wasting your time telling people who played this fucked up political game wrong to pound sand and get lost because you played it right.

No. Get over it and work together to fix this shit. You are just dividing the left when it actually has a chance to come together and do something.

Such confidence in your assumptions! That must be why you confidently turn to accusations and attempt to instigate instead of addressing my point and demonstrating that you have the capacity for empathy.

…Or are you just trying to drive a wedge between leftists because you are trying to divide us to further the christo-fascist agenda?

Either way, I’ve made my point and you are counterproductive. If you want to stop the right, I recommend you stop fighting others on the left and get to work.
