Far too late to ban guns so you might as well acquire the tools and skills to defend yourself.

"Confiscate all weapons, and crime would go down. It made sense. It would have worked, too, if only there had been enough coppers – say, three per citizen.

Amazingly, quite a few weapons were handed in. The flaw, though, was one that had somehow managed to escape Swing, and it was this: criminals don’t obey the law. It’s more or less a requirement for the job. They had no particular interest in making the streets safer for anyone except themselves. And they couldn’t believe what was happening. It was like Hogswatch every day.

Some citizens took the not-unreasonable view that something had gone a bit askew if only naughty people were carrying arms. And they got arrested in large numbers."

I refuse to listen to anyone saying this wouldn’t work when we already have an example of it working in Australia.

“It’s impossible! Let’s just hand-wave away all the times where it was shown to actually be pretty fucking possible and straightforward.”

Yeah let’s just forget about the shooting you guys had last week (or a bit further, sorry), involving a sovereign citizen type. From what I remember he killed a police officer. Definitely zero guns with zero possibility of more shootings.

The 2nd Amendment exists. Fact. The judiciary has, many, many times, upheld it to mean the right to individual ownership. Fact. Australians were far more willing to give up their guns after Port Arthur than Americans ever will be. Opinion.

If you want to be unarmed, I have always said I respect that. But I’m sure as fuck not giving up not that the fascists have taken my country.

        (sorry, can’t edit my replies)

One more fact. The Constitution is very, very hard to change. No way the 2nd is dropped in the next couple of decades. Opinion.
