    They did a study one time, and in that study, at least, owners couldn’t tell from their dogs’ behavior alone whether any particular dog did anything naughty.

    The people who conducted the study suspected that this is because the dogs weren’t acting differently because of what happened while their owners were away. They were acting differently based on how their owners were acting when they returned.

      Yeah, they sense how we feel and adjust to us. Most of us would feel at least a bit bad or concerned if someone close to us got very upset, even (or especially) if we don’t understand why.
