Hell, Lemmy can be this way too or some other instance somewhere else in the fediverse. It is almost inescapable.

I’m struck by the fact that the Reddit is now just straight fucking video content almost exclusively. And most of it is just reposts from TikTok.
It happened so slowly. But it’s just video, video, video.
I don’t like video content. Video content is not entertaining. Video content eats up the bandwidth on my phone. I do not like Reddit.
Maybe it’s an ADD thing, or an ‘aging millenial shaking thier fist’ thing, but video is soooo slow.
For reference or discussion, I always seek text first, to the point I’ll even download/make transcripts if video’s the only place I can find something. They just have so much filler.
Video seems designed for people who mainly want to be entertained for a few minutes (usually just over the 10 minute mark, never mind how that is the exact limit tied to increased advertising revenue…), rather than people who seek actual information to parse.
Ngl, while eating lunch this describes me. But I more often want information too, otherwise, and yet ever since Google purchased and decided to promote YouTube the text based ones seem to mysteriously be much more difficult to find…

Well yes but… every time in the last 2 year whenever i tried to post ANYTHING(meme,brainstorming,ideas,help) i got so many people to hate speech on me that i had to delete every post i made. Well in terms of every social media has haters i am totally agree. But in my personal view currently reddit holds the crown as one of the most toxic paople on social network.
The Lemmy version is: “guys I want to install Linux because I’m not comfortable with Windows but I’m not a tech genius and I just want a computer that I can install the OS and not have to worry about it again because I don’t have a lot of free time and I don’t want to have to spend hours troubleshooting it ever and I don’t understand any of the terms you guys throw around when you’re discussing Linux.
