I saw it when it first aired. Like Spielberg’s other cartoons a lot of the humor went over my head as a kid and isn’t quite my preferred style of humor as an adult, but I nevertheless remember it fondly simply for the childhood nostalgia.
I remeber being slightly disappointed while I was watching it back in the day. The problem was that it relied on boomer pop culture references. I mean, he does a lenghty Jerry Lewis impression in the first episode - which kid is supposed to get that? And kids were the target audience, so no excuse there.
