    I think a big part is emphasis. English tends to put the emphasis on the last word of the sentence so not saying it sounds weird.

      It is about emphasis. In a stress timed language, we don’t need to waste our breath on petty things like grammar!

    I’m Anglophone but trying to learn French to better understand half the conversations spoken during family gatherings and I gotta say that English does not have a monopoly on being a confusing-ass language (and my Indian English-speaking friends who moved to Canada trying to learn French as their like, 4th language can attest to that 🫠)
