The price has not increased due to the new things your subscription now includes. You are paying no more money than you did when you were only paying for email, if you’ve used Proton for that long. You are still paying the same price and only using email.
Your gym adds some new basketball courts and doesn’t change the membership price. You don’t play basketball, so you complain and tell the gym they should lower your membership price?

Every following product was unwanted and went un-used. It seems to me their intention is to neglect mail and shovel-ware from here on out.

Your keep saying Mail is being neglected but haven’t provided any evidence or even an explanation. They just released a complete rewrite of the Android app.
As the other guy said, I don’t complain about my gym prices when they add some rowing machines, even though I never use the rowing machines.
What do you feel they are neglecting about the mail app? What gesture do you want added?
It definitely gives me a weird feeling to see them becoming bigger and more all-encompassing. And the way they bought SimpleLogin and did nothing with it but keep the dev too busy solving problems to implement any of the features that were planned up until that point didn’t really give me a great impression of them as a business, either. I stopped using them a long time ago.

That said, you don’t have to use what you don’t want and the lower price tiers only have the mail.
I like that youtuber. I’ll be sure to watch that vid when I get home later. At this point if they won’t give us a “no bloat” package I’m likely to go to Tuta this year. Already using my own domain so it’s hardly going to be difficult.
Can warn you that Tuta seems to be getting bloated with useless features and completely neglecting their mail and calendar this year too as they’re gonna release their drive.

I do worry that that their service sprawl is going to detract from overall quality of said services. Email, Calendar, Drive, and VPN would have been a perfectly fine ecosystem. Now they’re doing AI shit too, I guess?
The default in Proton’s webmail is for their AI to be ON. “Writing assistant”.

Please link? I don’t see sh*t in my account to “downgrade” my package beyond what it currently is- “Mail plus”, which has access to everything I listed, including Lumo AI slop.
Mail Plus, as the name suggests, is Mail+calendar.
My Mail plus has all of the pictured, with no “restricted, upgrade your plan” messages for any of them.
Did you actually check the feature list? The Mail Plus has very limited access for the other apps.
There’s the free account, has mail and calendar, plus other stuff, but at least you aren’t paying for it
