Everything I’ve seen so far is conservativesboot lickers saying “he should have stayed home”, “he brought a gun to interfere with federal agents”, “FAFO”, etc.

Basically they’ve all given up on the idea of free speech and the right to bear arms, and have gone full on “we love big government”.

It’s not that they suddenly love big government, it’s that they don’t actually think… period. Politics to these people has nothing to do with actual reality, and none of these people actually give a single thought about how politics actually impact their own lives. These people treat politics like a sports team. They are Republicans, so they’re on team Red. Everything their team does is automatically good, because that’s their team. Everything the other team does is bad, because that’s the other team.

They don’t like the kind of “big government” that pays for health care for poor people.

They do like the kind of big government that does mean things to poor people.

I know that sounds like hyperbole but that’s pretty much it.

Yes, but they only think that way because that’s what they’ve been told to think by “their team”. They’re not Republicans because they are against free healthcare, they’re against free healthcare because they’re Republicans.

Nah, my dad will jump at any opportunity to talk about how bad and corrupt the Republican party is, but still votes for them every election because he agrees with pretty much everything they’ve ever advocated for except maybe Iraq. He’s a Republican because he hates poor people and minorities and “communism”, but not out of any sort of team loyalty.
