Sadly the reality is that America isn’t a democracy. It’s struggling as a business representative government but the courts say money is equal to speech so the rich are running over everything and trying to make the People pay for those decisions.

Hopefully the People get a say in the government soon!

If it’s not a democracy, and you don’t plan on overthrowing D.C, how is that supposed to happen?

Pardon the snark but it kind of sounds like you want your cake and eat it too; either it is a democracy, and the people will get a say, and thus USians are collectively responsible for their government action, or it’s not a democracy and the people won’t have a say in the government

from my (perhaps limited) perspective, it does seem that the people are indeed getting a say, and a lot of people are very happy with the current US admin (and a lot also are not, but not enough to have any decent policy, and keep in mind that I’m not singling out Trump from his predecessors who also were warmongers)

Trump worries about the crowd when he is doing something unpopular but that popularity doesn’t control his actions directly. The end result is protesting his actions is the most effective way to stop things like nuking Iran.

The way this entire thing works in America is that the House of Representatives gets to speak for you. You don’t tell them what to say and often money will corrupt them quickly beyond any interest in what they should be doing - but - for a few years the new ones try to listen to the public.

On the other end is Trump and the Republicans who control the House and Senate. Without the House the heinous acts and laws don’t pass. He needs the House to stay in control.

We, The People, don’t get to say “stop the war” but we do get to stop the economy and that will stop the House, which will stop the war.

We are doing our best to be the peace we want to see in the world and it starts by not being violent. It will take time, like the Republicans took 20 years to be able to be so openly fascist, so clearly it will take time to undo the damage.

Worst case we just have to wait for the boomer congress/senators to retire or die off.

Putting an age / term limit on congress members would accelerate the process towards electing younger, uncorrupted, technologically competent individuals.
