I’d like to know what was on the driver’s phone that was so much more interesting than a stationary bus a hundred yards in front of them.

He was calling about his missed payment because he bought 5 times more truck than he can afford. “But I need a $70,000 truck.”

I hate to share this story. Have a friend. She did the same thing. She wasn’t on the phone, she wasn’t distracted, and she wasn’t intoxicated. HER KIDS WERE ON THE BUS. She just dropped them off. Country roads heading home same as every day before. Routine. She saw the bus and she just wasn’t there mentally when the bus stopped for something on the road. Worst still I used to get all worked up over shit like how did you not notice and what not. We’ll it happens. I read a study done on people who forgot their kids in cars. Well our brains are fucking assholes. The just of it if you ever forgot your phone, wallet, keys, lunch, what’s ever. This could happen to you.

This might be “normal” in a system where people are forced to work above their limits causing cognitive impairment, and still forcing them to drive a deadly vehicle. It shouldn’t be normal though.
