The cybersecurity part of my life would say that one shouldn’t run an unpatched and EOL operating system and install Linux but yeah I guess if people wants to run old insecure software and hold on to microsoft that sucks I guess.
i’ve got someone here clinging to winme of all things. it’s only just this year started to be a ‘problem’, i.e. not allow him to do something he wants to.
that’s not even the dumbest part.
he got a replacement years ago–that’s literally still new-in-box. that new pc has sat unopened and unused for its windows’ entire service life.
the old coot lives too far away for me to go help. i keep asking him to bring it all to me to see what’s what, but he hasn’t yet.
LibreOffice is better than Office 2019 anyway and up to date.
I’ve have LibreOffice for over a decade, had OpenOffice before that. Haven’t needed MS Office for anything near 20 years now.
but affected macs that are still running office 2019 have serria or high serria, and can’t run libreoffice (current requires os11)

Can’t they just run an older version of LibreOffice?
Yet another reason, I aint got a mac.
