I have fond childhood memories of sleeping under a sheet on a cot outside in Greece on a small island my family is from. In the last 15 years someone brought mosquitoes to the island and its insufferable because no one understands their breeding habits and always leave water troughs and tanks open for breeding. Its really rough in the winter rainy season.
Did you know the mosquitoes that sting humans can be eradicated?

We do this for screwworms, but for some reason malaria and zika are A-Ok to let spread.
We did this for screwworms. Trump and fElon ended that program. We now have screwworm infections in California
Can we do it for Ticks?
Dunno. With mosquitoes, there are only a couple of species that bite humans. Eliminating those leaves plenty of other kinds of mosquitoes for birds and bats and other animals to eat. With ticks it might upset the ecosystem if it’s not the same scenario.
There was at one time a vaccine for Lyme disease, but it’s no longer manufactured. More are being worked on.
need more bats and dragonflies!
And yet I still can’t buy a mosquito laser. Very frustrating.
