A hack for this: get a travelers credit card. It works just like a regular credit card, but it’s pre-paid and not tied to a bank account. Use the balance you used to open the card on whatever you want, then you can use the empty (or nearly empty) card online without worry.
Also those useful prepaid credit cards silently seem to have disappeared (at least where I live).
Had to switch to a neobroker that issues credit cards as an alternative some years back.
