    Well… yes and no.

    I’ve come across people who are (and I’m using the word very intentionally here) proudly obese, often morbidly so. In point of fact, my grandmother was; she simply didn’t see it as a problem.

    That whole mentality, to me, has pretty strong echoes of the idiotic dogmatic shit the hard right gets into (read: ivermectin, bleach, antivax/autism fearmongering, etc). It’s not admirable that you look like that if you are super fat. You’re not attractive, and you’re definitely not healthy. I am not advocating for shaming - clearly it’s a healthcare matter that should be addressed by the person’s healthcare providers - but reveling in a deeply unhealthy body state is completely unhinged for more than a few reasons.

    I’m relatively confident I’ll be downvoted aggressively for saying that, but whatever.
