Why does the lava look like that? Because damn, that that is really pretty!
Sulphuric acids cause blue flames to appear above the top layer of the magma, providing the effect. So the blue you see is the flames.
Still super cool. I wonder if some mad person has thought of cooking something, with a really long lava resistant stick or something.
I’ve got to imagine it’s not ideal for making food even with long enough cooking implements because of the fumes. Sulphur not necessarily (idk what compound this would be, but we definitely eat sulphur containing foods), but there are all sorts of things that lava is off gassing.
If you were cooking something completely sealed, it might be okay, but it would have to maintain that seal with pretty extreme internal pressure, because of the huge temperature difference.

I mean, give me a bit of research funding for an expedition and I can definitely cook up some cool but ultimately useless experiments.
Looking it up, it’s fire committed colored blue from sulphur, not actually lava. Still looks really cool, though.
