If you want women under your desk while you play WoW (and what a spectacular early 2000s goal that is), it usually helps to not have an utterly repellent personality or be constantly bitching about how the world owes you.

Depends what you mean by “understand”.

If you mean that you comprehend in a scientific or sociological way how someone could be driven by societal or psychological symptoms into a state of psychosis where it seems like taking innocent lives is an answer to their problems, okay.

I don’t really see how that would make you less likely to care about their actions.

If you’re saying that you understand in the empathetic sense, as in you feel the same things that you’ve identified in mass shooters, then you need professional help.

Mass shooters don’t feel the way they do because they’re well-adjusted or stable.

The fact that science is continually updating itself is the reason to trust it. Science doesn’t rest on its laurels. It doesn’t say “Well, solved that one! Don’t ever have to think about that again!”

Science is continually re-evaluating itself in light of new information, discarding conclusions that are no longer supported by evidence, and making new ones based on new understandings of the elements involved.

How about stylistically and thematically consistent? Surely, Nolan could have at least tried for that?

Again, multiple other characters in the trailer who are of the same status level, time period, and culture, but no consistency.

Egger’s The Northman was an equally mythologically interlaced tale, but you don’t see any vacuformed plastic there, do you?

I read an interview with Nolan where he said that because he’s red / green colorblind, he deliberately color grades his films to desaturate those colors and make the final result more accurate to what he sees.

Doesn’t change the fact that bronze/ heavily pigmented ancient Greece is a horrible choice for such a treatment, but still interesting why he does it.

It’s just so obviously a vacuformed plastic shell that doesn’t fit the actor that’s wearing it. Has no visual relation to any of the other armor styles in the film, despite supposedly being from the same culture, time period, and status level.

He looks like a futurized, Coppola’s Megalopolis interpretation of classical armor.
