The capital letters imply “1488” and the post is 14 words long, both of which are well-known nazi dog whistles.

Isn’t that 1884? Seems like a bit of a stretch, but a triumphalist painting complete with Indians fleeing into shadow from the advancing white people (a heritage to be proud of, apparently) is definitely in poor taste at best.

      “poor taste”?

Yeahs, a bit of an understatement.

In case you haven’t, check out what the words “manifest destiny” meant back then.

You can even see the same illustration; American Progress (1872) by John Gast

Sure, but seems about right given the intelligence of your typical white supremacist. I think the number of words, capital H, A and Ds, content of the post, posting organization, and political context make a Nazi dogwhistle the Occam’s razor-approved best explanation.

      Huh, that could be it:

The year 1884 is significant as it marks the birth of Anton Drexler, a German far-right politician who founded the German Workers’ Party, which later became the Nazi Party. Drexler played a crucial role in the early development of Nazi ideology and mentored Adolf Hitler.

        Yeah,

        • 14 words in the post, an allusion to a notorious Nazi formula
        • 1884, birth year of Anton Drexler, a far-right politician who founded what later became the Nazi Party
        • 1488 and 88, notorious Hitler-related numerology
        • Painting showing Manifest Destiny and a bunch of other white people chasing Native Americans into darkness

I think we can safely conclude that Homeland Security are deliberately sending Nazi dogwhistles on their social media.

Eh, I think the actual stuff they’re really doing is enough evidence without needing to make up stuff.

Why do we strain so hard to find hidden messages when the truth is staring us in the face- it looks like a bunch of white folks following some supposedly divine decree to drive natives off their homeland, selfishly displacing and decimating the bison population while theyre at it, claiming that’s some sort of heritage to be proud of. I dont need to count words or notice weird capitalization to know some twatwaffle who celebrates the absolute worst and overtly racist parts of colonizing north america posted this

It’s not explicitly a painting of the Trail of Tears, but it was painted about 40 years after that dark chapter of our history, and it features White Americans chasing Native Americans into the darkness, so it’s hard to imagine that anyone who likes the painting isn’t at least okay with the Indian Removal Act. Best case scenario, they don’t know their history. Worst case scenario (I think there’s pretty good evidence that we’re here), they want to do it again.

It’s honestly barely even hidden, if you’re familiar at all with neo-Nazi ideology, tendencies, and meme patterns. It’s important to know one’s enemy.

Yeah, the right wing can hardly count, I very much doubt they’re sending secret messages through poor capitalization.

Honestly TBH, they love that kinda shit. Secret societies, handshakes, codes and all that rot. They love knowing things other people don’t know (as long as they’re like, super easy things. None of that math and science bullshit).

        Mostly: yes.

Note: it isn’t selfish to destroy the bison population, it’s fucking stupid. It’s anti-selfish. It’s moronic.

HH alone is already a significant dog whistle. It’s basically 88, but already one step closer to it’s intended meaning. As dog whistle messages go, this one is very blatant. I wonder what hidden symbolism they put in that image, there’s bound to be more there. NVM that last bit, it’s a painting about white supremacy, but there probably won’t be hidden fascist messages because the painting is older than fascism as a political movement.

Homeland Security was already sending out the occasional dog whistle during Trump’s first term. Back then there was still doubt as to whether it was accidental or intentional, but now we know that the fascist take over of that organization started back then, which means that those old dog whistle messages were most likely intentional and an invite to other fascists to come join up. Which they did.

Which also explains how it was that ICE could immediately embrace the new status of being Trump’s brown shirts, without any significant protest from inside the organization: unlike other government departments, they didn’t need to do internal purges since the fascist take over was already complete at the start of Trump’s 2nd term. This should be a warning to other countries where politicians are considering of giving fascists even one iota of power.
