The Vice President to George W. Bush (2000-2008). He’s remembered as a torturer because of the “enhanced interrogation” (euphemism for torture) that became legal in the response to 9/11, and employed through the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Keywords are “Guantanamo Bay” and “Abu Ghraib prison”, if you want to know more. Gruesome stuff.

And, since we’re on the topic, while the US government gave formal cover to torture following 9/11, it was hardly new. Before that, we had special treaties with countries that had less oversight and fewer laws for human rights. If the Pentagon wanted someone tortured, they extradited prisoners to so called “black sites”, which existed in other countries but were typically staffed and operated by US personnel.

Dick Cheney who was a war criminal, I believe that’s who they are talking about this time. Could be anyone of our many vile politicians though.

Yeah, it’s Dick. He’s the one that was famous for saying “We do not torture!” And then explaining how water boarding, sleep deprivation, violent rape and sexual humiliation, “stress positions” (being tied up in ways that would dislocate joints) were NOT TORTURE.
