All my dogs wear their collars at all times unless they’re getting washed. Don’t want to risk the situation where they get out of the yard because someone left the gate open.

They’re all microchipped, but that requires taking them to a vet to get their info. Much better to see the name and phone number embroidered into the collar.

My dogs can come and go inside/out back as they please: I installed an automatic door opener and hooked up motion sensors on either side, down low (dog height). They know to put their nose under the sensor to let themselves in and out (to the back patio).

Whenever another dog sounds the alarm barks, they all spread out and cover every area of the yard with additional alarms extra barking. Letting the whole neighborhood know that the visibility perimeter has been breached we’re getting a delivery.

Nope, mine are nudists at heart. One loves the sound of us bringing out the harnesses knowing it means going for a walk or car ride. The other goes and hides. She is insistent she doesn’t need it and acts like we are punishing her when it is on.

My dog gets her collar on if we are going for a walk or a car ride, and if it’s still on at the end of the day I take it off at bed time.

In my mind it’s kinda like a bra. You want it on when you’re out and about, but when lounging around at home it’s not necessary, lol.

When we had a dog when I was a kid, I remember him wearing it all the time. Mostly because I remember taking it off sometimes and just scratching around his neck. If he was one of the cats, he’d have purred.

Both of mine wear collars all day but very loose. I usually refer to putting them on as “wearing their clothes”. when I walk them theyre in harnesses rather than a lead on the collar

I only put my dog’s collar on when we go on a walk. I figure she’s more comfortable indoors without one :)

My dog is a nudist at home. She only wears her collar outside. We don’t have to worry about her slipping out, I can leave the door wide open and she’ll stand there staring outside, but she won’t leave.

Edit to add; I guess it would be helpful to say why. Two reasons. One; we noticed that she tends to scratch at her neck when her collar is on for long periods of time, like it gets itchy there. Experimenting with leaving it off, we found that she seemed more comfortable. Two; she has a crate that she’s allowed to go into if she needs a safe space. It’s enclosed (has a cover) and that can be helpful if she’s anxious. We don’t want her in there with a collar on in case it catches on something.

My dude only really wears his collar if he’s going to be outside for longer than a minute or two or if we go somewhere. He has absolutely no interest in running off (despite plenty of opportunities), he’s chipped, and he’s in a fenced yard, so I don’t worry about it much.

Honestly, it’s just as much for me as it is for him. The collar itches him a little, but he doesn’t mind much. I prefer the lack of jangling, plus it feels less “oh look, my dog” and more “who’s that crazy critter running around my house”

I’m lazy so it’s whatever I last I needed to do with him. I take it off before bed because he will scratch his neck and jingle it at night, also before going in his crate so he doesn’t hurt himself. Once he goes out for the first time of the day he’ll probably wear it until I have a reason to take it off

We leave the collar attached to the leash. I don’t even use the leash most of the time now. He’s geriatric and moves like an animatronic with a dying battery.

Mine wear them all the time. They hold an airtag. My littles are escapists. Also the jingling rabies tag helps me know what they’re up to. One is a tinkler boy.

I used to keep the leash attached to the collar and just took off the collar and kept it by the door.
