Even if we agree that we are talking about a very limited population group like: people living in North America, You assumptions seem to be based upon a fairly young group of sexually active people without children. I am not taking a swipe at women, gays, or marriage here, I am merely pointing out that there is a real divergence in the life styles and priorities of people who are actively having/trying to have kids versus those that are not. Yes, it is also the same for gay couples trying to adopt or do the surrogacy thing. But I am not sure that group is big enough yet to effectively skew the numbers.
