Selmak was frustrating, but never a douche, in my opinion.
In fact, Jacob had such a strong impact on Selmak that they became almost a liability as far as the other tokra were concerned. He was too tempted to ignore thousands of years of protocol and precedent to assist the SGC.
Chevron 5 encoded! Let’s gooooooo
Chevron 6… Encoded
Unscheduled offworld activation
It’s fucking Baal again
Close the iris!
Wait we are getting a transponder signal!

Open the iris a little bit.

Chevron 7 Locked
Prairie-dogging.
Right in the middle of his backswing!
Other place: “UNSCHEDULED OFF-WORLD ACTIVATION!”
(Horn sounds)
“Wait: Is there a sunspot‽”
You technically don’t have to say Locked on the last one, but it’s Standard Operating Procedure by Walter to do so.
Fun fact: the actor ad-libbed in “locked” instead of “encoded” originally, and it worked well enough that it became a thing right then, pretty much.
Gary Jones is a treasure. Him, Peter DeLuise, (and the very rare Chris Judge) are easily the best of the DVD audio commentaries.
Are we long enough into the streaming era to completely give up on a revival of cast and crew commentary alt audio tracks? We are. 😞
Chevron 7… Encoded?
You fool! Chevron 7 is locked not encoded!
Unless…actually I can’t remember. Maybe it still gets encoded if you’re going to another galaxy or something? Anyone remember?
Yes, that’s why I put the ?
The first time they dialed another galaxy was the first time jack got the library of congress downloaded into his brain.
