How did I not hear about these sooner! These look amazing
I am interested in the C64 one but not at over a hundred clams.
I remember my c64. Glad to have moved on. I don’t get the appeal at all.
Do you not need a full keyboard for any C64 or ZX games?
No, a lot were joystick-based.
Some probably but most games back then were wasd+space USB port on the handheld can take a keyboard I think though
Was wondering what that screen capture was.

Looks quite impressive for a C64 game.
The company got in touch with me to review.
I had to decline though. The C64 era is far, far before my own. I think I’d just be doing it a disservice covering it, since I review modern handhelds the inevitable comparisons I’d draw against this wouldn’t be fair!
I do love the design, but these ones aren’t for me!
That’s a shame, and I get your thinking but you actually represent a lot of the potential audience and a review from your perspective would help readers understand how much is gaming value and how much is nostalgia.
I remember BBC micro, c64 and spectrum as the console wars of the day, usurping the Atari 2600, on which I remember playing asteroids, pong, missile command, and many more; I was so young that I now can’t remember if we had the 4 or 6 switch version.
I scoured the web for reviews but couldn’t find any. Not even on techdweeb’s YouTube and he is usually up for the old dos and c64 stuff.
Hope you will reconsider doing a review. The hardware, materials, build quality and ergonomics can compare with other handhelds, just judge the games on their own merits.
“USB-A port for connecting an external keyboard or joystick”
Yeeeeeeeeees! Portable Ultima IV!
Hey, C64? I don’t know where you are now. Last time I saw you my mom gave you away to a Polish orphanage. I cried. I hurt more than any child should ever have to. I just wanted to let you know something, buddy. Your great grandson… Got a USB A port.
Wherever you are, whatever happened to you, whatever those little freaks did to you, know that I miss you, and that we will see each other again, in /dev/null
Your c64s grandson is this and not the Commodore 64 ultimate?
I don’t need it, I have their full size C64, but I would love to have it, despite the fact that I can play it on the go on a bunch of retro handhelds already. My wallet will probably get over it at some point… It does spark joy…
I have other handhelds plenty capable of running c64, but it’s nice to have a device for a specific job. And these nail the aesthetic for my eyes.
you mean these two?
this looks like game boy advance SPs
Yes. Sorry I messed up the post. Link added now.
I could have a portable Elite: Not Dangerous machine :O
(the OG Elite from 1984 was on the ZX Spectrum; the only game I know of and have played on it lol)
Elite was released on both, though I rememberthe spectrum version tape had different ships depending on which side you loaded. The C64 is probably a better option for the full game.
I’m a little too young for the Commodore 64 - my introduction were a friend’s Amiga 500 and a hand-me-down Amiga 2000 - but these look awesome enough that I would buy it just to display it, if only my hobby budget wasn’t already ridiculously over-stretched this year!
Oh putting a dpad on a c64 just feels wrong
Yes, but can you imagine putting a tiny joystick on there, which somehow fits inside a clamshell? Maybe if they went for a 4:3 screen, they could use the extra space for something.
Old enough to still mourn the toshiba nipple mouse, which would have been a good substitute
How about this one?

Not for $130 USD. No way.
Still got an original C64 “Night Moves” edition in its original, but admittedly tatty looking, box up on our loft…
I keep threatening to show the kids how gaming used to be.
Threatening them with a good time?
These are so cool! I need to force myself to forget these exist or my wallet is gonna hurt
Sorry. Link added. Messed up my first post 🤦
