Back before reddit permabanned me, they would delete posts where I would say things like, “Get them before they get you. They’re clearly planning to get you.” Ironically, I got permabanned for asking what Eisenhower would do if he attended a Nazi march and was given access to a machine gun, because that was advocating violence. Much less advocating in that post than in some of the ones that were deleted. My grandfather’s generation had a much better approach to dealing with Nazis than we do.

wanna bet he has CP stashed on his computers or phone. if he actually read the bible, or seen his “works” its almost always the angels doing the dirty work of god, he doesnt get his hands dirty most of the time.

American Christians constantly pervert the teachings of Jesus into the complete opposite, like there is an anti-christ filter on America.

America pretty cool for novel Jesuses, a bit shit for Mary’s tho.

LDS Jesus, Evangelical Jesus, The Chosen Jesus, Bart Ehrman’s Jesus, Dan McClellan’s Jesus, Dan Brown’s Jesus, Richard Carrier’s Jesus…most of the novel viral Jesuses really went into full production in the US of A.

    Proverbs 24:17-18, Romans 12:14, 1st Peter 3:9, Luke 6:37, Galatians 5:14…

1st John 4:20 is pretty clear here.

These people are false speakers and represent the worst of religion.

Also, the audacity for this guy to say “you don’t pray for the orc.” If you follow Christ, YES, you do! That’s maybe Christ’s most central teaching: to love & forgive YOUR ENEMIES as God loved & forgave you.

I share Bible verses because these people are coming. They need to be shamed by their own prophets. Utterly disgusting behavior from this “pastor.”

Edit: He quotes Pslams 83, which points back to proto-religious notions, before Judaism, regarding Yahweh & Baal. One was a desert god; the other the sea god. The stories are Jewish folklore, given the references to rivals, and the highlighting in this passage of storms & winds makes me chuckle.

The problem with bible quotes as points is that it’s a large corpus of text “edited” and “translated” over thousands of years by the powers of the time to suit their needs.

Even if you assume it’s the original singular text, with no changes, written by one person, it’s all open to context and subjectivity.

If a particular passage, section, or idea is helpful to you, thats great, but trying to point at isolated quotes as objective truth immediately falls down when someone cherry picks a different quote that (from their perspective) is counter to yours and for some reason , more true.

Thats not even touching on cultural drift or linguistic interpretation.

To be clear this applies to any text of the same nature, not just the bible.

All of this is my subjective opinion.

I completely agree. My personal faith is Unitarian Universalism, so I like being informed by the Bible. At the same time, I’m aware of the historic context it lives in, how it’s been translated, etc. I’m not reading Aramaic or Greek, and neither are they. This guy seems to have focused on the Old Testament. I don’t get that either (if he’s Christian), except in the case of preaching this hateful rhetoric. Jesus would be disappointed in him.

Dan McClellan has addressed white christian nationalist abuse of biblical literature to marionette the cadavers they parade as ideology before. I’m hoping he’ll provide a similar professional public eviscerstion for this as well.

Are u allowed to just carve out random exceptions to your god’s words? Thou shalt not kill…unless someone thinks differently. Love thy neighbor…unless he’s a different race. I had no idea the Bible allowed such flexibility… 👍

Put those two in a room with no microphones, no cameras, and no expectations, and I’m sure they’d be all over each other like some amped-up bunnies. And the world would be a better place for them embracing their feelings instead of redirecting it as hate towards unrelated parties.
