Doge did a bunch of bullshit cuts to them last summer but congress has been resistant to the president’s proposed NOAA budget cuts as far as I can tell. The house appropriations bill funds them similarly to 2025. The shared article is over a year old

Hypothetically, even if the heat of the blast didn’t vaporize it, I don’t see how something that size moving at 150,000 mph wouldn’t ablate from intense friction with the atmosphere before reaching space.
