The inverted red, pink, purple, black, and blue triangles have all been reclaimed by various remembrance and anti-fascist groups, particularly in Europe. For example, the Association of Persecutees of the Nazi Regime – Federation of Antifascists (VVN-BdA) and other members of the International Federation of Resistance Fighters – Association of Anti-Fascists use the red triangle as part of their emblem.

I deeply feel the need to opose the crimes committed by Israel. I am also horrifyed how easy people adapt symbols an phrases aimed to harm civilians. Its possible to opose any crime against humanity even though the criminals are not all on one side. Not every enemy oft your enemy should be your friend. A lot of this looks like identy fluffing on the backs of dying people.

NO gods, NO states and NO partriachy.

By deviding we cripple our chances to help each other against the ruling.

I agree, not for the same zionist sympathesizing reason you do, but because I fucking HATE the trope of brushing off what humans are capable of doing and painting this artificially idealized picture of what humans are “supposed” to be.

You don’t get to say those people aren’t humans to absolve yourself. You don’t get to pick and choose which people you consider “human” to make yourself feel less guilty about being human. You have everything in common with them, as do I. “Oh those people committing unspeakable atrocities weren’t acting with humanity!” Shut the FUCK up. If anything, committing unspeakable atrocities against other humans is the most human thing possible. Humans suck. And the sooner we realize that the sooner we can actually start working to meaningfully move past our species’ horrific legacy beyond useless lip service.

        promote human rights
        get called zionist

I mean I’m not surprised, this has become normal on lemmy.

        I’m still offended, though.

Which “human right” did you promote? Not getting dunked on in a meme community isn’t a human right. Literally no one here is doing anything to anyone other than insult literal fucking genocidal settlers, which they have every right to.

Also, I said zionist sympathizer. You sympathized with zionists. Would you have tone policed Polish people calling the Nazis inhuman monsters in the 1940s as well?

The meme implies anyone not standing with Palestine isn’t human.
Which I’m speaking up against. Even the worst people are humans, and all humans deserve human rights.
That’s kind of the point of them.
And that has nothing to do with my opinion on Israel or Palestine.

You know this is a throwaway meme post right? It’s a low effort dunk on objectively horrible people and nothing else. I’m genuinely wondering if this might be a cultural/language misinterpretation, but it’s worth noting that hyperbole and taking talking points to their extremes is a pretty common trope in English meme culture. No one means it literally. No one is actually saying they’re taxonomically not human. No one is saying they don’t deserve human rights. What rights did you think we want to take away from them?

Got references you can point to? Most of the threads I read specifically want them to face justice for their crimes. Which is part of human rights. Getting the death penalty after being found guilty of participating in literal genocide is more than fair and doesn’t violate human rights.

Also, people say hyperbolic shit when they’re angry. And this war has understandably made a lot of people extremely angry. Not defending them if they really are calling for taking away human rights, but those people won’t be the actual ones deciding or even influencing what happens to anyone after the war so your tone policing is not doing much to help.

By using the tactics used by colonizers? The same tactic used by the Nazis against “subhumans”? Is this really the road we want go down again as society?

Do you think that posts on social media are equal to genocide or colonization? It’s obvious to anyone with a working brain that ‘human’ is used to mean ‘humane’ here.

Let’s see what ‘inhuman’ means: “Of or pertaining to lack of compassion and the indifferently cruel, sadistic or barbaric behavior it brings”. Sounds quite apt to describe the behavior of zionists.

Dehumanizing isn’t about being inhumane. It’s about denying the people are even human. They are only objects to you when you dehumanize them.

                You are arguing for this.

When people commit such terrible wrongs, some find it easier to pretend they are not human. They gotta do everything they can to pretend Santa is real. Otherwise the reality of humanity will set in.

      This is who we are.

      This is how we are.

      This is where we live.

This is how we live. For now.

No, it isn’t standing with Palestine, nor standing against it. It’s simply pointless and a tactical error.

Dehumanizing is a mistake that the Nazis made, leaving them vulnerable to their own propaganda. They expected all their victims to be sneaky, cowardly and inferior, and they paid for that mistake.

Dehumanizing the new wave of fascists leaves us open to the same mistake.

The people committing genocide in Palestine are human, and it’s important for us to stop them by any means necessary, including killing them.

explain to me what sort of dehumanizing took place here? a joke about nazisraelites lacking the basics of human emotion and compassion? it’s not us who dehumanize them, it’s themselves who do it in a process of segregated alienation
