In short, I would have to say “yes, I’m applying for the full-time role” - though as you have 5000 characters available for this answer, I imagine you want a more thorough response to this question. Let’s start from the beginning:

Forms like that I just copy and paste the error notification in with the submission:

    Yes.

The text you entered is too short. Please use more than 50 characters.

yep. there’s a small chance it’s an honest mistake

      a bigger chance it’s malice

      and mostly just incompetence

either way, not a company I want to apply to

You know what. Forget hiring me. Just add me to payroll. My compensation is x weekly.

A company dumb enough to use AI chat to hire is dumb enough to use an AI accountant.

Nobody is talking about the “3996 characters left”.

17 pieces of flair is just the minimum, but a real team member goes for more.

This is the one and only use for ChatGPT - a polite fuck you to whoever thought a 50-4000 character limit was appropriate for a yes/no question.

This is what I would do as well.

      It’s the professional response.

Could be purposeful to see how one reacts to fustrating situations.

if the reaction they want is to see you bend over and take it, fuck that place

things should be neat and orderly and proper, so that people can spend their effort on the stuff that isn’t instead of broken-window tasks

I see shit that could be better and work to improve it instead of just saying “meh not my problem”

or, I mean, I used to, when we were a growing company full of people who also worked to make things better. now we’re big enough to have a bunch of people that don’t really care and are perfectly fine with repeatedly wasted effort and it’s actually not my job to do some stuff. so instead I just judge them for their shitty performance doing a thirty minute task every week that would take five minutes with an hour of initial investment

you don’t have to settle for being made to do bullshit tasks, though. if somebody is making you complete a ten steps process that should be five, change it. if it can’t change, fuck that place

Sounds like it’s time for you to look for a new company. Anytime I feel jaded or disgruntled, I leave for greener fields.

But what does any of that have to do with filling out weird forms?

nah, I’m just gonna settle into my position and do what I’m compensated for and try not to worry about what I’m not. if something makes my life shittier, I’ll fight to improve it. otherwise, I’ll offer my opinion and move on.

if you can’t make the connection between what I’m saying and a poorly set up form, I’m not going to bother explaining more

oh man I was fighting with a supplier of one of our systems and about this exact thing a couple months ago, I think. copy/pasting something from one part of their software would allow an invisible/zerolength character in a unique identifier field, which obviously fucks shit up. they, as always, were incredibly difficult to deal with instead of just acknowledging the bug and saying they’ll fix it

These bad boys are really great: 🧑🏼‍🤝‍🧑🏿

It has to encode the skin color and gender and that it is two persons and that all of that needs to be joined together. Or in other words:

Screenshot from a website, which counts a single emoji as 12 characters or as 26 bytes.
