If you prefer to avoid single-purpose kitchen appliances, then you will prefer toaster ovens to toasters. (Also, a normal oven can do.)

A toaster oven is also the superior appliance for making toast as it can toast bread that has already been loaded up with things like butter or peanut butter.

I think I see one toaster oven in the list, listed as D tier, which makes sense for that one because it has a built-in coffee maker.

But where’s the normal toaster oven in this list? That would be S-tier.

Beg to differ, I traded my S tier standard toaster for my dad’s toaster oven because he liked mine so much when I stayed with him during COVID times. The toaster oven is top notch but the added utility of preloaded toppings is offset by the counter top footprint. It also only really toasts one side properly.

The kicker is, most of the best applications are better done on a real oven. That’s how I do garlic bread, for instance. The only advantage is if I want to make something quick and sad, such as a pretend grilled cheese sandwich for the kids while I’m sick, I can slab cheese on each slice of bread and put them together at the end. Luckily little kids have no taste, so they don’t mind.

Toaster oven is superior. I don’t mind the counter top space because it is a superior appliance.

Mine toast both sides, as there is a top and bottom heating element. It’s was better for reheating pizza than a microwave (takes longer, but the end result is way better). It’s really handy to have a smaller secondary oven when cooking big meals. I roasted a turkey breast in mine last year, while the stuffing cooked at a different temp in the oven.

I struggle to imagine how an actual commercial salamander is ranked lower than these gimmicky counter appliance abominations

Where’s the Breville Smart Toaster Oven Pro? I don’t see a picture of the Breville Smart Toaster Oven Pro. You must have accidentally forgotten to include the Breville Smart Toaster Oven Pro.

Only acceptable design is A-tier, all others are unnecessarily restrictive in size and dimensions of the food to toast. Only idiots limit themselves to sliced bread.

No it is not superior. It doesn’t allow for only toasting one side of the food, it forces you to toast both/all sides. It has less flexibility and still restrictions regarding foods that can go it it conveniently.

Maybe you can’t see it but it’s this type:

BTW I love that people are taking this seriously. I only did this to troll my “mother in law” that has the F tier one. I hate it but she swears by it. She appreciated my hard work.

Those “c-tier” motorised hotel-buffet ones are kinda goated for their use case. Stupid for home use of course.

I still have burn scars on my knuckles from working at a bagel restaurant that used one of those when I was a teenager.

They still have plenty of issues. The ones I used never toast the bread well enough in one pass (because different types of bread require different time), so you have to wait in front of it and pass it multiple times. The controls are speed and power and it’s not easy to calibrate perfectly but once you put your bread in it even if you can see it’s burning you can’t just take it out, it has to pass through the entire machine. I’ve also seen cases where the bread will get stuck inside or go down the slide to fast and end up on the floor. I will take traditional toaster over them every time.

It’s called a Pie Iron. You butter two pieces of bread and put them butter down onto the cast iron and fill it with whatever you want with your sandwich. It then closes up and you latch it closed and stick it into a fire pit to cook.

      Amazing camping snacks.

I would also say it is S tier for the task it is designed for. My class went camping once and one of my classmates brought one of these with canned pie filling. This led to an arrangement where I would start a fire in the morning while they were all huddled in their sleeping bags, and they would make me pies while keeping warm in front of the fire. I’d say I had the better end of that bargain because I both got to make fires and eat pies, but they also seemed happy with the arrangement.

    You should change this.

An AI powered toaster would clearly stand head over heels above all the rest of these posers…

Just use more AI bro. Just one more is all you need.

I use my airfryer. 3-4 minutes and it’s perfectly toasted.

I tossed my a-tier style toaster half a year ago because the “done” ping sounded like a god damn smoke detector going off. Couldn’t toast a piece of bread in the morning without waking the whole building.
