I had a lot of questions after Trump was first elected and I started reading as much as I could, not only learn more about how and why it happened but also about Trump himself. One of the first books I read was by his niece, Mary Trump. The very aptly titled, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man. I came away almost feeling sorry for Trump after what he’d been through. To say his father was an absolute monster and his mother was selfish and uncaring are understatements. Trump had an older brother, Fred Trump Jr, who was groomed from an early age to take over the family business. The senior Trump demanded ruthlessness from Fred but he didn’t have it in him. The pressure destroyed him and allowed an opening for Donald to step in. Trump knew he wasn’t smart enough to be the ruthless and successful businessman his father demanded, so in order to please his father and compensate for his shortcomings, he began to construct a very fragile illusion of himself as strong and capable and ruthless. Gradually, this became Trump’s reality. It wasn’t based on facts or observations or careful reflection; to Trump, it became what he said it was. And in order to sustain this illusion there must be no encroachment of objective reality like the multiple scientific studies showing no link between autism and vaccines. Trump can only exist if people adore him and support the illusion that he is all powerful. It’s why he frequently says that when people talk to him they call him “sir”, or that every response from the White House to counter any criticism of Trump always talks about how he’s the most engaged, the hardest working and the best president this country has ever had or our military is the best in the world. To Trump, might not only makes right, but is his only recourse when things inevitably go wrong: “we are going to beat the fcking sht out of them”. And if his adoring public has any doubt about vaccines and that they might cause autism, then this becomes who Trump is. A reckless and dangerous figure who will do anything to maintain the adoration of his public but is framed as a fearless warrior who fights for the American people. It becomes a caustic, self-sustaining cycle that is the heart of the chaos we now find ourselves in.
Yeah that book is crucial to understanding how he’ll act in any situation
Imagine that RFK, Jr isn’t crazy enough for you?
“Iiiii I made a pair of boots, you uhhhh can fuck one of the boots, uhhh even if you wear jeans. The other boot is ahhhh crockpot to make stew. Don’t uhhhh, don’t uh wear that boot, it’s decorative. The leather isn’t leather, it’s a recycled dog skin fortified with bull semen and sauerkraut juice. Its also a good ahhh, a good jerky”
RFK Jr. Commencement speech to the graduating class of the 2 hour online new employee training course for the Chipotle in Rancho Cucamunga, CA.
I didn’t realize Trump actually cared about vaccines and figured RFK was appointed as a quid pro quo for his 10% of votes he was getting early on.
Trump sure advertised the Covid vaccine as something he was proud of. Why would he be against vaccines now? Because maga yelled it and he thinks thisll help him get back some of those he lost during the Iran war?
I didn’t realize Trump actually cared about vaccines
Trump on our side, says not Doctor Andrew Wakefield.
Andrew Wakefield attends Trump inaugural ball in 2016.
Trump was antivax before he got elected. But he certainly got vaccinated for COVID. He just wants the simp vote.
Covid is bullshit, it’ll go awake in the summer like flu, swallow bleach and squirt horse dewormer up your ass, covid is a hoax
gets covid
PUMP ME FULL OF EVERY MEDICINE, STEROID AND EXPERIMENTAL CONCOCTION SCIENCE HAS TO OFFER!
Why would he be against vaccines now?
While I don’t have the answer, it isn’t anything new and predates the pandemic: https://archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/09/17/fact-check-republicans-run-afoul-of-medical-thinking-with-autism-assertions/
The republican party was willing to entertain anti evidence positions so the people whose primary issues were things like “the medical and scientific establishment can’t be trusted as much as my gut” flocked to them
"But it seems Trump has not aligned with his advisors and still wants Kennedy to demolish vaccination policy with wild abandon, despite the health and political dangers. "
What the fuck is even the point?
Because the Evangelicals with money keep asking for this, and he can’t deliver.
He’s terminally online in right wing echo chambers. The furthest right people oppose vaccines now so so does he
Cruelty, misery, exercising power to inflict suffering.
Don’t forget: Dismantling of the country so that it can be parcelled off to the Oligarchy on the cheap.
Hard to prove a link that doesn’t exist.
No it isn’t. And, it was proven repeatedly.
The only data suggesting a link was faked by Wakefield.
Not for Trump, he just thinks hard enough and that’s how it is. No really, as far as I read that’s how he treats life, you think hard enough and make sure you have groveling sycophants tell you that how everything is just like your delusions and live in a fantasy world where your hands don’t look like they belong on a 10 year old.
Well technically I think it was some positive thinking attitude type mindset so even if it doesn’t match reality it happens. What a load of baloney, unless you start with half a billion dollars on the game of life then you’re rich enough to pretend whatever you like. Somehow this dude made least 1/3 of the US think that’s okay, good job on electing people to defend education and critical thinking.
How are Democrats not running ads about how “Donald Trump wants to kill your children.”
They’re too busy attacking DSA candidates
meh…if he doesn’t kill them, a few firearms around the house will.
There are so many issues to attack him on that this one looks minor. I think I heard the DNC is pretty much bankrupt too.
they are too busy worrying to not offend both houses why MITCH MCCONNEL isnt replaced. beshear is pratically acting like tim walz, non-confrontational approach, dont rabble rouse. while when the gop does it, they can go scorched earth all they want.
The Republicans (Midas Touch) probably is.
Democrats are almost entirely pussies and even in many cases complicit.
It’s all one power structure.
Yeah we can really see how both sides are the same. I remember when Biden was virulently anti-vaccine, while unleashing a personal paramilitary force on the population, while destroying our relations with every other country, while starting a war with Iran to distract from him protecting child rapists.
Oh wait, no I don’t. Because only an absolute fucking moron could possibly believe both sides are the “same”.
The democrats are still a ragtag bunch of enabler pussies.
If you attack a party for something well in advance of an election, it loses its effectiveness before election day. People get desensitized to the message and it no longer impacts their decision to vote or who to vote for. If you noticed during the last election, different promises were made at different times. They waited to promise full legalization of cannabis until the last minute for a reason. There are also alignments of promises or points emphasized during primaries based on which state primary or primaries are up next.
Because they are complicit. The two parties are not the same, they differ on a few dozen topics, of which the public is acutely aware. For the other 1,000,000+ issues, they are either in agreement or are complicit in Republican ideology.
its called a uniparty, those on the outside us, call it a coalition party single party, they pretty much are. thats why you notice they act as one, and only have disagreement on some things and nother others. WAR, defense, israel, foreign aid, bailouts are off limits to opposition.
but CULTURE WAR, SJW is a little healthcare(just not enough) is ok to fight for.
What “million plus” issues are there?
Fuck this “both sides” nonsense, it’s so goddamn stupid. Sheer fucking delusion no different than MAGA delusion.
I don’t fully buy into the ‘both sides are the same’ argument. I do believe the two parties are not different enough though. Basic shit like universal healthcare, civil rights, taxing the wealthy by closing loopholes, etc. should be what the left is doing in my opinion.
Would clash with the “Donald Trump wants to fuck your children.” ads.
Donald Trump wants to play fuck marry kill with your children
Because the frontal attack just reinforces his position. The right wing populist playbook is all about the victim complex and it has some known bugs in human “rationality” helping out as well.
They are controlled opposition. Their only function is to pacify the left and make sure no actual lefties make it out of primaries. They answer to the ruling class same as Republicans.
having an actual left actually hurts the republicans too, thats why they demonize it, becausit shows there are alternatives to right wing, alt right political parties, then jus the GOP.
FFS, please shut the fuck up. The “lefties” in Democratic party that are super popular around here are Democrats as well.
Fuck marry kill should not be a pick two of three
The numerous measles outbreaks and thousands of infected children are doing most of the having lifting already. No need to spend money on what local and national news are already spreading for free.
The Democrats have bigger fish to fry – – mostly, making sure to get enough voters to the polls to make sure we win the midterms and issues such as the war in Iran and general affordability issues, not to mention Epstein.
i dont think midterms will save the lameduck DNC, considered how slotkin, SCHUMER, hakeem, booker is acting, and of course mark kelly, not surprise being from a formerly red state like AZ he would be a conservative DEM, he recently swore fealty to israel.
Ugh… all I can say is that I hope you’re wrong
And I feel fucking disgusting for voting for both Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries. Jefferies used to be my house representative. That fucking useless shit. I feel dirty for helping get that guy elected in the first place. Yuck. What a fucking letdown.
He promised so much, and delivered exactly fucking nothing. I met him once. Shook his hand. He lied right to my goddamn face. What a fucking bastard.
I don’t even get me started on Corey Booker. Fucking New Jersey… Those assholes can’t even pump their own fucking gas
what for? Magatards will keep voting Republican and the rest is either not listening or will vote Democrat and silently hope for the best
How are Democrats
I’m not sure who exactly you mean…
Candidates wouldn’t be running election ads yet.
Like, who do you think should be running ads. And what would the purpose be?
Like, who do you think should be running ads. And what would the purpose be?
They mean not running them yet. These ads are annoying as shit, if you over do it, it backfires. The election isn’t until November.
So you think…
They’re asking why Dems aren’t currently running ads in the future?
Everyday is a surprise I guess…
No, I have no idea why you’re having this much difficulty.
They’re asking why they aren’t running them now. I answered that.
You didn’t answer anything, you made the same assumption I did, I was just smart enough to ask for clarification while you jumped in an existing conversation to make a random ass guess
Frankly, I’m just going to block you so if you do this again, I won’t know.
Please do, you are an absolute fucking moron.
“Report: Trump mad” Yes, of course.
Ardent anti-vaccine activist and current US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reportedly on thin ice with Trump for not being anti-vaccine enough for the president’s liking
How are there so many completely delusional people in the world in a time of education and information?
Is the human brain rigged for insanity?I don’t mean RFK Jr. or Trump, but the fact that Trumps delusional policies got him elected in a country of 300+ million people.
😡 🤥 🤡 🤮USA as a country and society is stark raving mad.
rfk JR BRAIN was bathing in heroin for a long time.
Is the human brain rigged for insanity?
We are monkeys wearing clothes. Yes.
Well I suppose nature will just have to try again when humanity ultimately destroys itself.
dont you mean worms wearing clothes
Anti-vaxx stuff used to be on the fringes - once the stupidest people took over the Republican party anti-science sentiment in general came with them. Because they’re stupid.
I have lived in the bible belt all my life, still trying to escape. People are proud of their beliefs even though they aren’t true. “Everyone is entitled to their beliefs” is the common sentiment, but it’s wrong. Everyone is morally obligated to align their beliefs with reality as closely as they can.
That’s where science comes in. It is not an authority, not a religion, not a system. It is a process we use to acquire and refine knowledge. Given the physical limitations of our senses and minds, it is the best we can do.
People need to learn before we all die of stupid.
Everyone is entitled to their beliefs
That is such a stupid saying, basically it’s true that people are entitled to their beliefs, but that doesn’t make their beliefs worthy in any way, and it definitely doesn’t mean crazy beliefs have to be respected, and it also doesn’t mean they deserve special consideration.
Everybody is also entitled to jump off a cliff, but what would be the point of such a statement?
Americans fail to debunk the widespread insanity as a society, and as a result the insanity is spreading.I don’t really wish death upon anyone, but there are definitely times when I wish we hadn’t been able to tackle COVID so quickly. Much more significant losses of people who obstinately refused to buy into the science would likely have made us come out of it FAR stronger than we did. We might not even have had Trump around any longer since he apparently got an early access dose of treatment.
he got access to the expensive monoclonal treatment, definitely not accesible to even normal health insurance customers.
It wasn’t an early access dose of treatment outside the US, my (unconnected) grandpa got the same stuff at almost exactly the same time in a country with proper healthcare.
No offense, but that’s irrelevant since we’re talking the rules the US was operating under. I’m glad your grandpa was able to access it earlier than we could, but it doesn’t change the reality we were working with here.
The point is, that scarcity in America had no bearing on if Trump would have gotten it. If there hadn’t been one dose of vaccine in America, or even if it had been illegal to dispense, Trump would have had it within 12 hours of thinking it was better to have that shot than risk the most important person in his world suffer an early death.
We all know that. I don’t see how that’s relevant to what I was originally saying.
Ah, so your fervent wish is that the whole world was as dumb as the average American, and that if it was bad enough then millions of stupid Americans and Trump would have died. In that case, you’re right, my previous comment was totally irrelevant.
This stupid wish doesn’t need a cursed monkey’s paw, the nicest genie in the world couldn’t have made this turn out okay.
Heh, you think those rules were real and not just artificial scarcity used to prop up the price tag?
- There was no (direct) price tag in this instance. I’m sure we paid significantly for it through taxes, but how do you put a value on millions of lives?
- Yes, those rules were real, and had been in place for quite some time. They were actually somewhat pared back for this issue.
Rules aren’t real if they’re only real for you.
You gotta understand the US’ version of democracy hasn’t functioned properly in decades. I don’t know what all happened; seems like a culmination of things.
I mean, “the people” didn’t promote him to the head of the GOP presidential lineup. When he did something disrespectful and disgusting, he wasn’t dismissed by his party. He just assumed control. His words were repeated and analyzed by every news station as if he had merit. His wasn’t a grassroots movement, it was plotted & paid for by who knows (I’m assuming corporations & foreigners powers).
Not to mention his uproar over voting machines during Biden’s entire term - I struggle to believe the same fascists pushing & investigating these machines & corporations for years prior to the election actually won said election.
“Stark raving mad”? Maybe. “Delusional”? Also maybe. But I think more than anything the population is the victim of a broken government.
There’s no good evidence of widespread voting shenanigans (yet; I’m worried about future elections). Trump was popular in rural US, and that pretty much explains everything. I agree with everything else you said though. There’s a ton of evidence of foreign meddling, and all the dark money in politics is basically legalized election influence for the wealthy.
I mean, “the people” didn’t promote him to the head of the GOP presidential lineup.
They did, though. How do you think that happened? He was voted for in Republican primaries.
You believing in “election fraud” is more destructive to our government than not. Believing wild bullshit without evidence is what you criticize in one breath and then actively do in the next.
I think your blind faith is more destructive than my hunch, so I guess we come out even, eh? Who put Trump there to begin with? Who allowed him to run on the GOP ticket at all? Who convinced his rivals to drop out so they could get positions in the new regime?
“The people” have been convinced they’re in a competition where the ‘other side’ wants to ruin their lives. To far too many Americans, it’s not a choice of good or bad, it’s “Red or Dead”. The people sure as shit didn’t spontaneously divide themselves bitterly along party lines.
Claiming the population as a whole is victim of the government they themselves elect is circular logic. And makes it an obviously false proposition.
Yes democracy in USA is dysfunctional, but it is still a representative democracy. It’s functional and it is a democracy, the biggest problem is the first-past-the-post system. Most of other forms of democracy seem to work better but we’re super wrapped up in tradition and nationalism so people get offended if you suggest something could be improved.
Since when do they need proof to exclaim something backwards and stupid?
Trump just wants manufactured evidence
The truth is what he declares it to be.
ThE eLeCtiOn wAs sToLeN!
the brainworms are doin everything they can to help!
If only RFK Jr. would only talk faster he’ll “find” the solution. It’s not found in science, it’s found in talk.
heroin is really destroyed his brain.
Holy shit. He really hates us all…
The first task is just a matter of time. The second is essentially complete as far as many people are concerned.
Anyone found a first party source? This headline is awful clickbaity
You mean other than the first paragraph of the article that links to it?
It is pay walled
I always try to find an alt source
I can shorten that a bit.
Trump: Mad.
